We woke at 6:30 as be had to be at breakfast at 7 in order to be on the boat at 7:45 for our river safari. Breakfast was fresh fruit and bread.
The river safari was amazing. Mvuu is Chichewa for hippo and it sure is an apt name. We must have seen over 200 hippos.
We saw many crocodiles
We saw many different kinds of birds
Fish Eagles (Malawian National Bird)
Kingfishers
Cormorants - the trees are not white - that's all cormorant poo from the rookery.
The nests of weaver birds have front and rear entrances. They are built in the branches of a Yellow Fever Tree - which has medicinal properties for Malaria, not Yellow Fever! Bush Buck
I was blessed to be able to travel with 3 other members of my church, Glen Cary Lutheran, in Ham Lake, Minnesota to visit our partner church in the village of Chamasowa near Blantyre, Malawi from July 14-28, 2009. These are some of my thoughts about each day's events.

My Pictures
Most of the pictures in this blog can be clicked on and made bigger. Joe was kind enough to give me copies of his pictures. Any picture that has a * next to it is one of his - thanks Joe!
